INDIANAPOLIS –The UIndy men’s basketball team closed the opening weekend with a loss in the Midwest to GLIAC-foe Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon. Jesse bingham scored 15 points off the bench and was one of four double-digit Greyhounds.
HOW DID IT HAPPEN
The Lakers sprinted to lead 8-0 ahead Kendrick Tchoua place the dogs on the board with a lay-up. Halfway through the first half, Grand Valley held an 18-point lead before a 14-6 Hounds run reduced their deficit to ten. Grand Valley took a 39-25 lead at the break behind a 55.6 shooting percentage.
UIndy trailed up to 24 points in the second half. Tchoua scored another layup at the four-minute mark to draw the Hounds to under-14, but the return offer was too small, too late as Grand Valley pulled away again for the 77 win. -60.
INSIDE THE SCORE BOX
– Bingham punctuated the Hounds with 15 points followed by Aaron Etherington (13), Cory Miller Jr. (12) and Kendrick Tchoua (ten).
– Bingham finished with seven rebounds, a high for the team, including five defensives, while crushing a pair of blocks.
– Dee Montgomery recorded the best three team flights.
– The Hounds made 11 turnovers to 16 for Grand Valley. UIndy scored 19 points on the turnovers.
UIndy is staying at home next week, hosting Cedarville University at 7:30 a.m. ET Thursday.
