Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan and Ferris State head to NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Playoffs


NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship Support

GLIACA – Grand Valley State, Northern Michigan and Ferris State have received offers for the 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championship, the Division II Women’s Soccer Committee has revealed. NCAA on Monday night’s draft show.

Grand Valley State (15-2-4) was selected as the No. 1 seed in NCAA Midwest Division II. The fifth-ranked Lakers receive a first-round bye and will host contest winner No. 4 Maryville-No. 5 Northern Michigan on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m.

GVSU won its 17th GLIAC Regular Season Championship and won the program’s 15th GLIAC Tournament Championship in head coach Katie Hultin’s freshman year.

Northern Michigan enters the NCAA playoffs with a 13-3-5 record and is coming off a hard-fought loss to Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Tournament Championship.

The Wildcats will face Maryville (11-2-6) in the first round on Friday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at Laker Soccer Field.

Ferris State is the sixth seed and will travel to face No. 3 Ashland (15-3-2) on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in Cedarville. If the Bulldogs advance, they will face the winner of No. 2 Cedarville-No. Game at 7 McKendree on Saturday, November 12 at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs are making the program’s third appearance in the NCAA playoffs and second in a row after earning automatic qualification from the GLIAC by winning the conference tournament a year ago. It’s the first time in school history that FSU has advanced to the national tournament in back-to-back seasons, with the school’s first and only previous berth prior to the past two years coming in 2018.
