Grand Valley Power announces the opening of the registration period for the Youth Leadership Camp

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – Grand Valley Power is sponsoring two high school students to participate in the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp during the upcoming summer vacation. This is a great opportunity for young local leaders to experience a unique journey.

  • Youth Co-operative Leadership Camp – Two (2) all expenses paid trips to Co-op Youth Leadership Camp at Glen Eden Resort, Colorado, July 16-21, 2022.

Applications are open to all high school students who will be at least 16 years old depending on the selected trip / camp, and whose parents or legal guardians are members of Grand Valley Power. Students are required to submit a 500 word essay and complete the application form. Applications can be found online or at high school counseling offices. Completed applications must be returned by January 14, 2022.

Students attending the leadership camp will learn about issues related to the electrical industry, how cooperatives work, rafting on the Colorado River, the Steamboat Springs Gondola, and the Trapper Mine tour. Nearly 100 students from Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming and Oklahoma gather for six days at the Glen Eden Resort near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
