Grand Valley State University has appointed a Meijer executive to its leadership team.
Stacie Behler has been named the university’s new vice president, director of public affairs and communications, and secretary to its board of trustees.
She will take up her new role on July 1, following the retirement of Matthew McLogan on June 30. Behler will lead the division that includes government relations, institutional marketing, university communications, and WGVU television and radio.

“After two incredible decades at Meijer, I am thrilled to transition my leadership into higher education at such a critical time for students, families and our community,” Behler said. “Grand Valley State University needs to be at the forefront of the conversation about the future of education, and I am honored to be part of the team that will lead this work and continue to drive innovation and vision. “I have known and admired Stacie since I arrived in Grand Valley and have seen the impact she is making in the region,” said Philomena Mantella, President of GVSU. “She brings the kind of experience we need to fulfill this role, which includes government relations, communications and marketing. Stacie has a good legal mind, a solid and varied experience with a hugely successful retail business, and the dedication and connections to drive our successful community and business relationships forward while creating new ones. She is the right fit for the aspirations and visions we have for this great university.
